Hi everyone.
I work at Kennelly Keys Music in Lynnwood, WA. We have a Selmer Mark VI Bari Sax there on consignment, and I figured I would post here to try to help get it sold. It has a low A and is a 1963 instrument, serial #105xxx. It's going for $6200. From what I've seen this seems like more than a fair price, but it seems a little difficult to gauge where the market is on these since they don't seem to be the most common item that comes up for sale. Any feedback on this forum would be great, or if you would like to purchase the sax, a phone call would be nice.

Thanks,

Brian Madsen

Wait, a Mark VI with a low A? I thought the Mark VI's were made without the low A. I know a friend of mine has a Mark VI bari and it doesn't have a low A, just like how the Mark VI altos don't have the high F#.....

Nah a lot of the VI bari's had low A's. Weren't you the one who said, Saxguy, that you preferred the tone of the Bb VI bari's better than the A VI's? Or am I thinking of someone else? And any Mark VI could have had the F#...a fair amount do, it's just that the buyer at that time had to specially request the high F# (or a low A on either the bari or alto).

I was saying I liked the tone and intonation of the Mark VI bari because it doesn't have the low A to mess with things. But apparently some were made with the low A, so I guess I learned something new today.
