I've heard VERY mixed review of this and similar products. To the extent that I would definitely try before you buy.
Playing in a clothes or walk in closet seems to be a common method of practicing with minimal disturbance among those living in condos, townhouses, apartments etc. -------------------- Saxismyaxe/Mike S.

I had small war with neighbours recently..
I tried few thing but yesterday I started to play in the car parked in building's underground garage It's great, nothing can be heard outside but it's not always suitable to play sitting in car's cabin.. |

Both myself on tenor and my wife on alto, when we practice or play in bands always use a 20cm thick polystyrene circular soft cloth covered plug in the end of the sax`s bell. The purists are appalled at this but it does attenuate the sound in doing so has the effect of filtering out the high frequencies a little and, to me , and others who have commented, a "rounder " more pleasant note.

With all due respect if you need some kind of "muffler" or "mute" to enhance your tone, I think something is wrong with that picture. Tone should be something natural, not something that is enhanced by an outside component. I know in today's music people use tone generators/boosters all the time on their horns for recordings, etc, but if you really want to get better at playing your horn take the damn mute out and learn to control your tone in the upper register. It starts with long tones - you might not like what you hear at first but keep working at it, keep listening to great sax players (if you want good tone...listen to classical guys: Hemke, Rousseau, Mule, etc), and be persistent. Get rid of the crutch - and learn your horn. -------------------- JP
